Who we are

Black Hawk Freedom Ranch is a small business operating in Laveen, Arizona.

Mission & Vision

Black Hawk Ranch's mission is to provide support to beginner farmer/ranchers through education, incubation spaces, and community. Strengthening the food systems within the Phoenix Valley and keeping ranching/farming alive.

Black Hawk Ranch envisions a world where resources and education on growing your own food and having the space to do so is free and available to all. Food insecurity is a thing of the past and housing is accessible too all. A world where you can lean on your neighbor, where community helps community regardless of race, gender, or sexuality.

What we do

Through the use of teaching skills such as ranching, gardening, homesteading, and canning/freezing, BHFR is finding a way to make the food freedom obtainable for everyone.

In doing so, BHFR needs spaces to provide that teaching, thus we are in close and supportive partnership with Misty La Salvia Ranch, a 3rd generation Farm in Laveen, Arizona. There BHFR will be be conducting the following:

  • Raising, herding goats
  • Community Garden for pantry/food banks
  • Incubator pens/corrals AND/OR plots
  • Educational workshops from Masters/Experienced farmer/ranchers

These spaces will be available as a SAFE SPACE and will regularly hold workshops, classes, and provide food boxes for underrepresented groups within Arizona. Working with local Food banks to provide free food for those in our community that are in need and/or scholarships for beginner rancher/farmers.
